Drunk Kian tries to bash BB's Brian at celeb party TELLY presenter Brian Dowling
was left reeling after a drunk Kian Egan tried to hit him and branded him a
"bitch" at a packed celebrity ceremony. The Westlife singer went wild when the
ex-SM:TV star breezed up to him and asked how he was doing.
Big Brother winner Brian recently said in an interview that the rudest celeb
he'd ever met was Kian's current squeeze - Hollyoaks babe Jodi Albert - and the
singer was not happy.A guest at the ITV1 Celebrity Awards on Sunday night told
3am: "Brian has interviewed Westlife lots of times on SM:TV so he went up to say
'hi' to Kian at the party.
"Kian went crazy. He shouted at Brian: 'You have some nerve saying hello to me
after what you said about Jodi. You slagged off my girlfriend you bitch'."Brian,
26, tried to calm Kian down, stammering that he hadn't meant it. But the
24-year-old, who had performed Westlife's fantastic new single Smile at the do
on London's South Bank, wasn't going let it go. Our source said: "Kian had
clearly had a drink or two and was swearing away at Brian. Bri was mortified."
Eventually Jodi, 21, broke up the boys. Our spy revealed: "She told Brian that
it wasn't a big deal and that he shouldn't worry about it.
"But Kian was fuming and said he wanted to hit Brian. Jodi ordered him to go
away as she wanted to talk sensibly to Brian. She had to tell him to go several
times. Brian was gobsmacked - the last thing he meant was to fall out over it.He
told Jodi he thought she had been rude the day he interviewed her. She was cool
about it and said that there were no hard feelings."
The pair kissed and made up but Kian was still sulking. Our mole continued: "It
was very embarrassing as Kian kept kicking off in front of the other stars. He
was shouting: 'You make up with my girlfriend'." Well done for sticking up for
your girl, Kian, we think Brian got the idea.

There should also be an online pre-sale of tickets - this means that we'll give

Again, this is still to be 100% confirmed, but you should check back for

Westlife hit the decks
Westlife cut a dash in their DJs as they get lucky in a Las Vegas casino.
The boys are in town for the World Music Awards and to shoot a video for their
upcoming Rat Pack album. And we reckon they really look the part.
Over a game of blackjack the band - Kian Egan, 24, Shane Filan, 25, Nicky Byrne,
26, and Mark Feehily, 24 - boasted they were raking it in.
Kian, who has been out with the rest of the band enjoying Vegas to the full,
told us: "I've been doing pretty well. I've won $200. Maybe I should quit while
I'm ahead." And Mark joked: "Amazingly I've never gambled before. But I'm doing
well, maybe I'm a natural."
The chart topping band met music mogul Clive Davis who said their rat pack idea
was fantastic and would go a long way to helping them establish themselves in
America.
The boys' performance at Wednesday night's ceremony drew ecstatic cheers from
the likes of Usher and Alicia Keys.
This is one Brit band whose gamble on the States might just pay off...

E-gon missing
Westlife nearly lost another band member before performing at the World Music
Awards.
The worried lads were held up for more than ten minutes because Kian Egan had
somehow got lost backstage. -Very Spinal Tap.
A search party was launched to search the maze of corridors for the star. It
transpired Kian had taken a wrong turning and was completely lost.
A source said: “There was a bit of a panic after the other three lads went on
and then realised Kian wasn’t with them.
“Assistants were sent out and they found him wandering aimlessly around. He was
very pleased to see them and was led back to the stage.”
The lads went on to perform as a four piece in the European slot.
Westlife's Mark Feehily wasn’t heading straight to the card tables when he
touched down in Las Vegas – he hasn’t a clue how to gamble. He sheepishly asked
me: “I’m not sure how to play cards. Do they have snap?”

Scorn in the USA
Westlife's big break ruined by TV turn-off
It was supposed to be their big chance to crack America. But Westlife have been
left fuming after they were shunted from a prime spot at last night's celeb-studded
World Music Awards in Las Vegas. The band were supposed to perform a set as part
of the main ceremony - which is televised in more than 160 countries.
But when they arrived in Sin City the boys learned that their set would take
place after the main ceremony - and would not be included in the main live
broadcast. And to add insult to injury, a plan for the band to be part of a
presentation honouring veteran music svengali Clive Davis with a Lifetime
Achievement Award at the bash, held at the Thomas & Mack Center, also came to
nothing.
"Eyebrows were raised when it was said that Westlife were going to be a big part
of the ceremony as they're not well known in the US," an awards insider tells
us.
"Obviously the lads are hugely disappointed to miss out on taking part in the
main show. They were so thrilled to be asked to perform alongside the likes of
Alicia Keys and Usher, and really thought this was their chance to appeal to a
huge international audience.
After Brian McFadden left, a lot of people thought the band's days were numbered
and even though they're very much together they still want to prove the doubters
wrong - this would have been the ideal platform from which to do that."
The band - aka Kian Egan, 24, Shane Filan, 25, Nicky Byrne, 26, and 24-year-old
Mark Feehily - have been holed up in Vegas's swanky Four Seasons hotel with
their partners and have barely ventured out.
And although they attended Clive Davis's private drinks reception, the lads
failed to go on to the main dinner in his honour - even though the likes of
Usher and Avril Lavigne showed up. Our insider adds: "The band have a video to
shoot out in Vegas for their Ratpack album but this has really thrown a dampener
over the whole trip.
"They usually love a good party and everyone expected them to be out on the town
but that hasn't happened. They feel as though they were promised the Earth but
their performance will only be seen by countries that request a broadcast with
them in it - and there's every likelihood the only people that will see them
perform will be back home in their native Ireland. Obviously, communications
have broken down somewhere - their involvement was oversold but, at the end of
the day, it's a great place for them to network."

WESTLIFE’s NICKY BYRNE had to change hotels in Las Vegas — because he
has a fear of lifts without windows.
Nicky and the lads were checked in to the Four Seasons hotel while they shot
their new swing video. But their rooms were on the 48th floor and Nicky doesn’t
like lifts without windows because he feels too enclosed, poor lad. He checked
out and took a room on the tenth floor of the adjoining Mandalay Bay hotel.
A source said: “Nicky was mortified. He can manage if it’s not too far but 48

WESTLIFE are getting older - and so is their audience, the boys have admitted.
And now the fab four - all aged 24 or 25 - have shaken off their Boy Band image.
To prove it, just a day after they finished recording their new Sinatra-inspired
album - Allow Us To Be Frank - they visited a radio station for the Over-50s
last week to plug it. Shane Filan told listeners to Birmingham's SagaFM: "We all
love that Ratpack era. These songs are classic songs - they are timeless.
"We don't have 11, 12 and 13-year-old fans any more. Our age group is 16 to 80.
A lot of older women love our stuff and lots of hen nights take place at our
concerts." Kian Egan reckons they have done the right thing and added: "Together
with Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh we came up with some great tracks and we
believe it is our best album yet."

Louis Walsh has revealed how a businessman offered him £100,000 for one of the
Westlife boys to sleep with his wife. The man called Walsh's private number and
said: 'My wife really fancies Nicky. Would there be any chance at all?
'We'd be talking a hundred grand. You know, taking it from there. This is a
genuine offer, Louis, just two blokes chatting.
'Seriously, you name a price. Speak to him and see if he is keen.'
Walsh, who is usually on the ball when it come to money matters, was so

wind-up organised by Westlife and carried out by Birmingham-based BRMB radio DJ

The Westlife manager, who always has an eye on the profits, said: 'I was going
for the money.' And in a dig at a former band member, Walsh said: 'Nicky is
worth a lot more than hundred grand. could have got you Brian McFadden for
£50,000 or Boyzone for £25,000.'

KIAN'S BELLY DANCER; Hollyoaks Jodi parties in the park with Westlife
The Mirror (London, England); 9/6/2004 Byline: JENNY McQUAILE Backstage at the O2 In The Park
HOLLYOAKS babe Jodi Albert proudly showed off her fantastic figure and sexy belly ring as she danced the night away watching boyfriend Kian Egan and Westlife rock 100,000 adoring fans. The 21-year-old actress mingled with the VIP crowd backstage at Saturday's O2 In The Park gig at Phoenix Park and proved she was every inch the devoted celebrity girlfriend. Jodi partied at the Dublin concert with her on-screen sister Steph, played by Carley Stenson.
When Westlife took to the stage amid a security frenzy, Jodi ran to the side of the stage so she wouldn't miss a single moment of her man's performance. She danced and sang along with all the boy band's hits, including an acoustic Flying Without Wings and World Of Our Own. And when Kian, Shane, Mark and Nicky got into the swing of things dressed in kilts, Jodi showed off her own sexy dance moves. The English beauty also took time out to chat to former band member Brian McFadden.
Brian was joined by wife Kerry and daughters Molly and Lily. On stage, the 24-year-old well and truly shed his boy band image with a storming performance of his debut single Real To Me. Another favourite was Coronation Street star Keith Duffy who was MC for the day and really got the crowd going in between acts.
In true showbiz style, Jodi left the party fashionably early by leaving the stage area near the end of the band's set and getting into a waiting jeep. She was joined soon after by Kian who jumped into the driver's seat and the pair were escorted from the park by gardai. Their swift departure was part of a detailed security operation to protect Westlife.
When they arrived at the buzzing venue, they were rushed into the artists' area. With no one allowed within 10ft of the their dressing room, only the lucky few like Jodi were given an Access All Areas pass. But the strict safety measures almost came undone when fans rushed the band's van as it made its way to the stage.

Brian Stole O2 From Westlife
When was the last time you saw a member of a Westlife crowd-surfing? Never? Well, Brian McFadden celebrated his newly found solo freedom at O2 in the Park with a bit of a mosh! There was a stark contrast both back and front stage at O2 in the Park on Saturday as all eyes and cameras were firmly pointed in Brian McFadden's direction while his former Westlife bandmates seemed to be left in his shade...
In fact the contrast didn't end there - Brian's new outlook, style, music and performance seemed to highlight Westlife's stagnation as an act and perhaps was a big wake-up call for the foursome to drop the matching outfits and cover songs and roughen up their image. Not that we are knocking Westlife - they are still a top drawer act, it was just seeing Brian leaping into the 100,000 strong crowd and then being carried out by security still singing his heart out that made us think that time may be up on Westlife's highly polished and choreographed image?
Maybe, maybe not - but it was a breath of fresh air out of the clear blue sky at O2 in the Park to see a former member of a boyband get up in front of tens of thousands of people and sing live while strumming a guitar... And it didn't stop there - backstage Brian's two adorable kids Molly and Lily Sue had all the attention as their busty mother Kerry Ferried them around dressed in sexy Cowboy hat and boots, and denim skirt.
But Westlife did raise a few eyebrows backstage but mainly they were due to Shane Filan's new side-parting hair style. Perhaps married life has prematurely aged the young heartthrob? Other things of note which occurred at the O2 concert (apart from the sunshine) was Brain happily hanging out with his former Westlife chums and Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud hobbling around with her foot tightly bandaged.

McFadden: It's the end for boybands
Former Westlife star Brian McFadden is convinced boybands are a dying breed - because the music-buying public are no longer interested in watching groups "dancing around". The Irish singer - whose debut solo single Real To Me was released yesterday (06SEP04) - believes guitar-driven pop bands like Busted and McFly have stolen the limelight once dominated by hunky, choreographed all-male outfits. And he has warned aspiring boybands to change tact if they hope to score chart success.
He says, "A band like (new British all-boy group) V just run around the stage in luminous tops and spiky hair. It's already been done.
"Boybands dancing around isn't going to work ever again. Busted and McFly are what the kids seem to love. They're so big at the moment because they're new and are very good."

Westlife have shat all over everything else in the first-ever Official UK Download Chart, which pretends to be an accurate representation of what people are downloading, with a new version of 'Flying Without Wings'.
Obviously 'Flying Without Wings' isn't as good as 'My Love', or 'Fool Again', or the still-hilarious Casio version of 'I Have A Dream'. And, as has previously been established here on Popjustice, nothing can touch 'When You're Looking Like That'. Yet 'Flying Without Wings' is one of the defining songs of the modern boyband era, and it is the best song in the Download Top 20, from an act whose core so-called 'demographic' haven't even really taken to the legal download services monitored by the chart. So in a funny way pop justice has sort of been done, even if it's thanks to Fucking Westlife.
No doubt there are fools crying into their digital cornflakes this morning, moaning that Westlife and Blazin' Squad have taken the top two positions in the new chart. Awful, isn't it? It's almost as if both those acts offered their fans something new, different and exciting while almost everyone else just floated out the same old shit you can get for free off Kazaa. Damn those marketing people with their 'ideas'. Damn them all to hell!

O2 in the Park to bring Dublin €11.5m
Ireland's biggest free concert, O2 in the Park, has been estimated to generate over €11.5m for Dublin. The concert is on September 4 in the Phoenix Park.
The €11.5m figure was calculated by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and is based on a breakdown of food/drink consumption estimated at €4.7m, accommodation at €2.65m and shopping at €2m.
The stage for O2 in the Park is one of the largest ever erected for a music event in Ireland. More than 500 crew, 20,000 feet of cable, 20 articulated lorries and three miles of fencing will be used to construct the stage and prepare the site.
O2 in the Park will see more than 30 performers taking to the stage. More than 80,000 music fans attended the event last year, prompting organisers to make 100,000 free tickets available to meet demand for this year's event.
Playing the O2 stage on September 4 are Westlife, Blue, Girls Aloud, Brian McFadden, The 411, George Murphy, Mickey Harte, Aslan, Picture House and more.

There's celebrations going on in the Westlife camp at the moment, as the boys have become the first act to top a brand new chart, which is based entirely on internet downloads.
The chart tots up downloads from the official pay-for-music sites available in the UK - iTunes, Napster, OD2, Metacharge, 7 Digital Media and Playlouder. This means that any song from the entire history of music is eligible for a chart position, providing it's available over a modem.
And who has the honour of getting the first No.1 song in this brand new chart - and therefore the most popular downloadable song in the history of music? It's Westlife, whose 'Flying Without Wings' shot straight to the top, closely followed by Blazin Squad's 'Blazin Day' and Maroon 5's 'She Will Be Loved'.
An eager Kian told the Sun: "We're all really happy to have the first ever No.1 on this historic chart."

Download Chart starts up today
Today is massive in UK music, a day that will go down in recording history. No, it’s not the anniversary of Elvis’s death, the day Nirvana released Smells Like Teen Spirit and the Cheeky Girls haven’t been told to head back to Romania. September 1 marks the release of the first Official Download Chart — and it sounds the death knell of the Top 40.
From tonight this new chart will collate all the tracks downloaded on to PCs from the big three legal online sites — Napster, Apple iStore and OD2. The rules for the download chart are a little different to the official Top 40 singles chart put out by Radio 1 every Sunday. Any track ever recorded is eligible, it doesn’t have to have been released the previous week. So an obscure song by Bruce Springsteen could as easily get top spot as a new single by Brian McFadden.
Even so, it is Brian’s old band Westlife who look like getting the first No1, with a re-release of Flying Without Wings. Muse, The Streets and Blazin’ Squad are in the running too. Pundits reckon downloaded music will mean the end of record shops in a few years. I’ll bring you the new chart tomorrow.
